How To Replace A Torn Or Worn Out Dryer Door Seal?

Is your dryer door seal worn out or torn?  If so, then I would like to show you today how to go about changing or replacing the door seal so that your appliance can function efficiently again.  The dryer appliance repair that we will be demonstrating this on today is a Whirlpool dryer repair manufactured brand.

For this type of dryer repair you will not need any tools, so it is safe to assume that it will be a pretty easy repair job, so without further delay, let us get this job started.

Easy ways to help you replace your dryer door seal:

So go ahead and open up your laundry appliance, then start to remove the seal, just go ahead and grab a hold of it and basically pull or rip it off of the inner door panel, it should come right off and you can go ahead and throw it away, as you will no longer have any use for it.

Now take the new seal or gasket out of the packaging, you will notice that since the gasket is folded during production and packaging, it will have a few bends in it and before you can install it you will need to make those bent ends smooth.  So to get the bends out, you have 2 options.  The first option will be to put the gasket in the dryer for about 5 minutes to tumble, the heat from the dryer should soften the seal and make it smooth.  The second option is for you to put the seal in a container that is filled with hot water, let it soak for about 5 to 10 minutes, that is all it should need to get the bends out.

Now what holds the seal onto the inner door panel are a few arrow head style clips, when installed these clips will mold right into the rubber.  The first thing you will want to do is to line up the seal with these clips and then you will want to start at the bottom of the long slot and just snap the seal into place as you go around the door panel.  Make sure you do this firmly so that the clips can engage properly.  Once you are done, you will notice that the corners are not flat, it is ok as these will flatten right out over time during your normal use of the dryer.

You can use this same appliance repair for dryers’ process on brands such as Bosch, LG and General Electric or GE.
