With these types of machines, the heat is drawn from the lines that contain refrigerant by using an air vent or fans to circulate the air above the condensing unit. There are several benefits to this which include:

- This type of unit is cheaper than what you would pay for remote cooled or water cooled condensers.
- Installation is simple.
Air cooled machines can work in just about every commercial kitchen, however you need to make sure that where ever you are going to place the unit, that you have enough clearance at the back, sides and top, to allow for the right amount of airflow. Now, depending on the unit you have, some will require a few feet of space and other just a few inches.
Also, in order for that machine to breathe correctly, you will need to set up a regular schedule to replace and clean the air vents and filters. These units do give off a lot of heat, so expect the area that you install it to be hotter while this unit is in operation and the cooling fan for these units are somewhat loud, so make sure it’s in a location that won’t disturb your customers.
