What 134 Completed Appliance Service Calls Reveal About Appliance Failures Across Broward County, Florida
The Appliance Experts analyzed 134 completed appliance service calls across Broward County during the first half of 2026 to identify patterns in the appliances homeowners needed repaired, the problems technicians encountered and the components involved in those failures.
The service calls occurred between January 1 and June 30, 2026 and represented homes across 19 Broward County municipalities.
This research is based on actual field-service activity rather than consumer surveys, manufacturer claims or generalized repair estimates.

What We Found
Refrigerators, washers and dryers accounted for a substantial portion of the appliance service activity documented during the study period.
Technicians encountered problems involving components ranging from control boards, switches and door mechanisms to pumps, heating components, motors and refrigeration-system components.
One of the broader lessons from the service data is that a homeowner’s symptom alone doesn’t necessarily reveal the seriousness—or cost—of an appliance failure.
A washer that won’t spin, a refrigerator that isn’t cooling or a dryer that isn’t heating can each have several possible causes.
Professional diagnosis determines what actually failed.
Repair or Replace?
The Appliance Experts also maintains a growing database of Verified Repair Reports™, which documents individual field-service cases in greater detail.
These reports capture information such as:
- Appliance and brand
- Homeowner-reported symptom
- Technician diagnosis
- Failed component
- Repair performed
- Repair-versus-replacement decision
- Service outcome
- Location
- Field photographs when available
The documented cases demonstrate why appliance replacement should not automatically be based on the initial symptom.
Some appliances with significant symptoms were restored through replacement of an individual component, while other diagnoses revealed major failures or repair circumstances in which replacement made more sense.
For example, RR0030 documents a Whirlpool electric dryer in Coconut Creek that was returned to service after diagnosis identified a failed heating element and the component was replaced.
The symptom starts the service call. The diagnosis determines the decision.
Why We’re Publishing This Research
Most online appliance-repair information explains what might cause an appliance problem.
The Appliance Failure Report™ takes a different approach.
We’re building our research from what technicians are actually encountering during service calls.
The goal is to create a growing source of appliance-repair intelligence that can help:
Homeowners better understand appliance failures and repair decisions.
Property managers and rental-property operators understand the appliance-service issues occurring across housing portfolios.
Appliance service professionals identify patterns emerging from real field activity.
Journalists and researchers access original local appliance-service data.
As additional service data becomes available, The Appliance Experts plans to continue expanding this research.
About the Data
The 2026 Mid-Year Broward County Appliance Failure Report™ analyzes 134 completed appliance service calls occurring between January 1 and June 30, 2026 within Broward County, Florida.
Service activity represented 19 municipalities, including Fort Lauderdale, Coral Springs, Pompano Beach, Margate, Tamarac, Hollywood, Coconut Creek, Parkland, Sunrise and other Broward communities.
The dataset represents service activity handled through The Appliance Experts’ service operation and should not be interpreted as a measure of the overall appliance-failure rate of Broward County households.
Likewise, brand representation in service data should not be interpreted as a manufacturer reliability ranking. Differences in installed appliance populations, appliance age, customer demographics and The Appliance Experts’ own service footprint can influence which brands and appliances appear in the data.
